Statistics show that approximately 150 million people in the world are suffering from alopecia. Compared to the previous generation, a vast majority of people start experiencing hair loss as early as 27 years of age. To tackle this rising issue among men & women, Hair Transplant has emerged as one of the most effective & a long term solution. So what is hair transplant? In simple words, it is a procedure where hair (follicles) is taken from a part of the head (donor site) and are implanted into the site where the person is suffering from hair loss. A hair transplant is a minimally invasive surgical procedure which should be performed only by surgical experts only. The results are permanent with around 90% success rate in restoring hair. We Avanza the Hair Treatment Clinic in Mumbai provide the various types of Hair Treatment. There are 2 major techniques of Hair transplant i.e FUE & FUT hair transplant. You can go through a detailed brief about FUE Hair Transplant in the below sections.
FUE Hair Transplant
Both men and women experience hair loss and hair thinning as natural effects of aging. Age causes the three-phase cycle of hair development and regrowth to diminish until follicles stop producing new hair. Everybody goes through this process differently. While some people begin to bald in their 20s, others become bald much later in life. In addition, certain medical diseases including alopecia, which causes male- or female-pattern baldness can be the reason. Both your mental health and sense of confidence may be negatively impacted by hair loss. And this is where Hair Loss Treatment comes in. FUE Hair Transplant is the most recent significant technological development in hair restoration surgery.
What Is FUE Hair Transplant?
A graft harvesting technique called FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) is utilized in FUE hair transplant. A unique method of extracting or collecting the donor's hair, and then covering the recipient's bald spot with the implanted hair. Follicular units are removed one at a time from the patient's donor location during this Hair Restoration procedure. This method of FUE hair transplantation is also employed for beards, mustaches, and eyebrows. Any patient who qualifies for hair restoration surgery is typically a candidate for an FUE hair transplant. While a patient might not be a suitable candidate for a strip harvest, they might have a decent result via FUE.
How Does It Work?
FUE is commonly performed over several days in a series of 2 to 4 hour sessions. Individual follicles are removed during the procedure under local anesthesia. Each follicle normally contains 1 to 4 hairs. A microsurgical extraction tool with a diameter of between 0.6mm and 1.0mm is used during the extraction surgery to remove the hair follicles. The scalp area that will receive the grafts is then punctured by the surgeon using specialized microsurgical needles. As a result, it will resemble a natural and realistic hair pattern. Our surgeons are skilled at blending the hair in and inserting the grafts at an angle and density that match the original hair.
What To Expect From Hair Transplant Procedure?
FUE Hair Transplant at Avanza Provides:
- No noticeable scars from shaving the head.
- Less pain following surgery, no sutures, and no noticeable linear scar.
- Shorter healing period, more comfortable recovery.
- No lasting alteration of the angles of hair growth.
- Body hair harvest
The quantity of grafts to be placed determines the length of the process. Contrary to strip surgery, FUE hair transplantation does not call for extensive scalp harvesting. Additionally, there is no linear scar or incision on the back of the skull.
FUE Hair Transplant: After-Care
FUE has a rapid recovery time. For around three days, you can have some swelling or discomfort. Here are some recommendations for aftercare that our doctors at Avanza Clinic might provide you.
- Rest and do minimal activity until the following morning.
- Skip the shower and hair wash for at least three days.
- For the first two days following the transplant, spray normal saline into the recipient area every 2-3 hours.
- Once you begin shampooing your hair, use mild, unscented shampoos for a few weeks.
- Do not comb or brush your new hair for at least three weeks.
- Till your doctor gives the all-clear, avoid wearing hats, beanies, or any other items of clothing that cover your head.
- Sleep with your head elevated at a 45-degree angle for at least 3 days to help reduce swelling.
- For 3-5 days after surgery, refrain from smoking, drinking alcohol, or using any aspirin-containing products.
- Don't engage in any strenuous exercise for at least a week.
You will experience scabbing and redness in the recipient area following a hair transplant. Your scalp will start to feel less itchy after two weeks, and the transplanted hair in the recipient location will begin to fall out. The first new hairs will start to emerge through your scalp after two to three months of this normal shedding process. You can anticipate some new hairs to start growing four months following a hair transplant.
It's possible that some hairs will come out when the wound heals. That is typical. After 3 to 4 months, you'll probably start to see a difference. Depending on the state of your transplanted hair, your hair may not regenerate as thickly as expected and it may take a little longer.
